I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit. Does anyone have any advice on how approach discussions about compensation and what a market level comp package would or should look like?

I'm a first time home buyer and got pre qualified back in Jan. Hard pull on credit docked me a few points. I wasn't able to close and now considering another hard pull for a different mortgage company offering better rates.

Hi, has anyone worked at Freddie mac? Particularly the multifamily investments division?

We just moved into a 50 year old house. We got the popcorn ceiling removed in the garage plus had the walls done. We didn’t use an official asbestos expert because of the price.

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). How do you judge a low ball offer with how the market is changing? Earlier this year, you would look at comps and say this is the value. Now with rates going up and people pulling out, how do you justify the value? (View point from the buyers end)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it more advantageous to have low housing prices and higher interest rate? If that's the case, you can always refinance when/if the interest rate lowers again. Is there something I'm not seeing?

Got an agent and she was useless for finding good tenants. Got frustrated and finally started finding leads myself and closing on one soon. I have signed a contract with the agent for paying one months rent as fee. How can i fight this or as he has been literally of zero value add? If I'm adding multiple people to purchase a property but not on the mortgage, when do they get added - do they need to already be on the purchase agreement? I heard it's easier to do upfront vs. adding them later. I've asked this question in a thread but didn't get a clear response. If someone could please help clarify - how do I add other people on the onset on buying a property? This is a new build, buying directly from the builder.

Having trouble selling my (retired) dad's house. It needs a lot of work, but has great character. What if I buy it myself for a low, low price? Then I would be able to get a FHA 203k loan to do the updates. Rent it out or put it back on the market in the spring.

Bought a 300k end unit townhouse in Atlanta, 14 months ago with 10% down (3.65% interest rate). Prices in subdivision have been increasing over that period. This month 2 non-end units listed for 330k and sold right away. The opposite end unit on my 5 unit building was listed for 340k and is currently pending. What is the best way to stop paying PMI since since I should be at 20% equity?
