I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

If an otherwise good interview the interviewer says: “I think you have great experience that will help you wherever you go”. Should I be reading into this?

Flexible on format etc; here’s what I’m thinking:
- We choose a particular problem for a week (/month?) which a lot (all?) PMs face regularly. E.g. “stakeholder mapping”
- we have a “Fishbowl Live event” where we (practicing PMs) can discuss what we have seen work / not work/ brainstorm solutions for someone with a specific problem.

The idea is to provide multiple peer perspectives, and hopefully something useful

As a first time PM at a company with no PM structure, I’m finding it difficult to learn good practices and bring myself to “the next level”. Has anyone here had a similar self taught start that made the break through to become a solid senior PM? Anything will help, books, etc.

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’m trying to pivot to PM after >3 years in finance and I have a 2nd round interview with CPO this week. Company has 3.7 on Glassdoor with complaints about CEO, “bro-y” culture, and hard to wfh. It’s a data analytics company with 5 PMs, was bought by a PE firm this year, and has a new (female) CEO as of Oct. Role is 50/50 hybrid, pays well vs what I make, and most importantly would be a foot in the door to PM. Is this a good place to be for PM? What else do I need to find out to know for sure?

I am in my final interview for a product manager role. I am currently a senior product manager at Amazon. The only role that they had available at this company was product manager. Someone I know is joining as a senior product manager with less experience than me. What's the best way to address this?

I think I'm really bad at communication, storytelling, active listening etc. I'm good at 1-1 relationships, but really bad in 1-many scenarios. I just sound stupid often. A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles.
