I'm a 35 year old Officer in Indian Navy with 14+ years of experience(good job security). I'm planning to switch to corporate world due to mundane job profile. I've developed many niche software for Navy and am good with Python, Java, JSP, SQL. For perspective - TCS quoted 20 cr for similar s/w that I've singularly designed & developed. Plz help me make a decision-
Quit Navy and lookout for a job right away or Stay in the current role for another 7 yrs(will be 42 by then) for pension eligibility
Help- The project I am on is about to kick off a huge multimillion dollar implementation but I know I am underpaid. Also I feel like I am not being utilized to my full potential, and have witnessed some *not* best practices. I want out, but I also think this implementation is an opportunity for learning and in 9ish months could offer better exit opps. Should I stick it out or is 2yo consultancy and a masters degree worth looking for a new job now?
Hi. Does anyone know the law regarding offering freelancer healthcare after a certain number of hours worked in nyc? Tia

Do any insurance carriers have part time positions? I’ve been an underwriter for about 4 years, but have been contemplating staying at home with my kids. Part time seems like the perfect balance, just not sure if I can find that in this industry.

What’s the general guidance on the order to maximize retirement contributions for tax benefits for an normal individual and for a self employed/small business owner before moving to taxable accounts or alternate vehicles like cash value life policies?
I’ve seen for individual: match trad 401k->match roth 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max trad 401k->max roth 401k->max HSA
For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA
Of course situations differ but in general?

When should you disclose your pregnancy to your practice group while wfh? No belly to hide from coworkers but the fatigue and morning sickness are catching up to me. Managing it, but would also like to manage expectations too.
Any other art teachers out there feel like every thing they do is a flop? I am a big advocate for choice and student made artwork. My administration wants some "higher quality" looking work. Which means more teacher led. Even when I do teacher led things, the students don't listen. Any tips? I'm in a title school, came in late from maternity leave this year.
I am a Family Nurse practitioner with years of clinical experience. I als have spent time working in: Quality Assurance for CMS surveys, Post Acute Care and Readmission prevention and teaching BSN programs. I would love to get into consulting in a WFH position. I have been working from home for 2 years and would like to stay home. Any leads would be appreciated.
Entering third trimester and might start project that requires travel weekly (3.5+ flight). Realize this isn’t a Med community & I have my doctor for that, but would love advice whether this is a good idea or if I should push back and try to find something remote?

Many people out there might be trying to switch from other roles to Development roles after many years. They might not get the motivation and support for different reasons.
I have moved from testing (QA) to development after 6 years of experience. I am sharing my article which may help you if you are on a similar path.
So approximately three months ago I accepted a customer service position with a newly “corporate owned company” it was previously locally owned by a local owner. I accepted $15 an hour of the job offer. Previously I worked as a Quality Support Specialist and I am most definitely, as the company is aware, overqualified for my current position. I requested a $3 raise and was denied. That would have essentially bumped my pay up to $18 an hour. Previously, I made $22 in my last job. This job offers

I want to sell my home but my neighbor is a hoarder (it’s really bad) and I know this will make my place less marketable. Does anyone know if there are laws or ordinances that might force him to at least clean up his yard? Thanks in advance!
Need help from the Hivemind. I am a rising 4th year who has only been at my firm for a little over a year (after a few clerkships). I like my firm well enough, and the partners I work with like me a lot, but I’ve learned that Biglaw is not the life for me and want to get out ASAP. I’m applying to a Fed agency that I’m really excited about, but the application requires a reference from your current supervisor. I haven’t told the firm I’m thinking about leaving. How would you handle this?

Anyone have any advice for someone looking to transition out of agency life? I’m ready to try something new. Has anyone successfully done this and if so what types of jobs did you look for/apply to?
My Good app has a '13' next to it. Yeah, won't be clicking on that until tomorrow. Bring on some more bourbon! Merry Christmas everyone
Started a univerity degree in Business/Accounting 5 years ago, because I heard it could lead to jobs with good money.

I decided to move on from my job of 7 years, I had no days off, It was getting overwhelmed, I just wanted to spend quality family time, so I applied at another place and I was hired on the spot, so my old employer offered me what I wanted and I decided to stay, so my question is ….. how in a professional way do I tell my new employer that I not coming to work with them. I’m supposed to start by the end of this month.
So what exactly does a Nursing PHD do for you?
I am so behind with my preventive medicine at 45. I have a strong HX of certain cancers within my family and have had abnormal findings on tests in the past. My PCP is in the Boston hospital I work at and still won’t let me schedule them and it’s making me uneasy. Am I being unreasonable to ask that at least they be scheduled knowing they are likely going to be months ago? Only so much you can do on a tele-visit?
Does anyone else's family act like they're suprised or annoyed that you have to work holidays?
I have been an RN for 2 yrs and 6 m now. I started my nursing in the sub acute unit of a hospital, it was ok i didnt mind it. Im only 3m in.

Does your state have staffing ratio laws?

I quit a job that was so bad for my mental health. My boss made me cry weekly. She’s very narcissistic and gaslights. The day I left she texted me and told me that she will miss me and I am loved… do y’all think it is appropriate if I block her number and on social media?

I would start with Utilization and/or case management at the hospital your at. When you interview tell them your interested in remote work after training.
We screen patients at the bedside and assist in forming a safe dc plan. They may need rehab, nursing home placement, may have to work on getting authorization for those services, medical equipment. We work as an interdisciplinary team with doctor, PT/OT, caregivers, nursing.
Can you try to get into inpatient case management? You do some UM which helps you transition into full UM for insurance.
Agree, this would be the way to go.
What state are you in?
Centene is literally always hiring....you need no case management experience. 85k and up with bonuses.
Utilization has a lot of insurance rules. At my facility if you’ve never done it before remote work is possible after training. They will make sure you can work independently before they turn you loose. It is possible though.
I am willing to train in person if the option for permanent remote work is avaliable after
