I was at my previous job for 12 years, working my way up the later, starting their marketing dept. Other than my degree in marketing, I am self taught in the Marketing field. Got a rejection late last night after probably 3 hours of interviews and a take home assignment & presentation. They told me they wanted to consider me for other positions, but would like to know if there is anything actionable I can improve on for other companies.

This was for a unicorn tech/healthcare startup.

How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Trying to get into a t25 program, studying currently for the GMAT. I see a ton of people posting how they started off in the 600s and got into 700s. For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. Hey folks. Question for the majority of us still under the big 3 holding co’s...are raises a thing anymore? I’ve been at my (smaller) agency almost 5yrs and got one raise (a nice $12k bump) during that time—is that sufficient? Is one increase in that span normal? I also recognize being somewhere 5 years is rare these days. The honeymoon period at any agency seems to be 2.5—3yrs before bolting. Not complaining, just asking. Hi all, looking for advice on… well everything career related 😔 it’s the “great resignation” and people are moving on to better things all around me. I’ve been actively searching and interviewing for at least 6 months, and no offers after final round. I’m struggling to stay motivated to search and fake enthusiasm in interviews, and I’m still increasingly miserable in my new job. I think I need a career coach - any solid recos? Or is it even a career coach I need to help me get on track?

Anyone have one of those cushy jobs that isn’t fast paced and actually has some level of work life balance but also pays decently? I’m tired of busting my ass and churning out work, being burnt out, with no end in sight.

Recently, i was "promoted" or, I should say, my title was changed to the next ring up the ladder. As a part of this, I went from reporting to Senior Management, to Junior Management. The Jr. Manager has good intentions, but, is not helpful. I've worked at the company longer, have accomplished more across multiple lines of business and have a much stronger internal network. Am I overreacting thinking this is a major slight that will ultimately slow down my growth within the company?

Started in *May* - Prior to signing everything, I expressed concern to the recruiter about the credit check. Honestly, it’s not great but it’s not terrible. The recruiter told me many times to not sweat it because it the background check was the main thing. And that we could talk through anything on the credit report. Now HR is telling me they may rescind the offer pending review. I’m crushed. What can I do?

Does the addition of “(level) II” make a difference to anybody? I am the only marketing communications specialist for a lead child-welfare nonprofit. We oversee four counties in two circuits. Director recently gave me add’l merit-based raise (after my annual raise, been here 14 months) & slight title change to Marketing Comm Specialist II. No plans to add a level 1 (would be lower) specialist but will add level 1 engagement specialist to team. Should I update resume/cards or is this confusing?

Questions about job hopping-
My average tenure at a company is ~1.5 years (with ~11 YOE), but each jump I've made has yielded progressive/tangible career growth.

I'm concerned after my most recent jump (went from a product director to a head of product position at a different, smaller company after only a year) that I've kind of poisoned future career prospects at larger companies.
