Hi all, I accepted a position at my current company that I've been at for four years as a PM starting at 95k flat. I'm located SLC so I feel like the salary is quite low. I think I will need to leave my current company to be paid fairly. Does anyone have advice on how to move externally when you've been at the same company for so long? Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄

Role is 50/50 hybrid, pays well vs what I make, and most importantly would be a foot in the door to PM. Is this a good place to be for PM? What else do I need to find out to know for sure?
