Hi all, I am needing some help with a salary negotiation. I am trying to relocate to Pittsburgh area. I have 3.5 years of experiences now and getting offered between 80k-85k for base salary for a senior accountant or reporting analyst position. Does this sound about right? I get paid more right now (maybe becasue I am in Oil and Gad industry) but want to see what the market average look like in Pittsburgh.

You need help with negotiations in what sense? As in, you asked for more money and they said no? If 80-85 is too low then walk away. My experience is you can get more money if you kill it in the interviews and have multiple offers. Tell each company they are your personal favorite but their offer is not competitive with your other offers. I did this and got about 20% more than I asked for/expected

Brilliant

This seems pretty good. Or I am really underpaid

like

For 3.5 years that seems like a good salary in Pittsburgh for a Senior. I would consider it or negotiate to 90k top

New associates in public probably make 55-60

Pittsburgh is definitely a low cost of living city. Left in 2018 as a senior with 3 years making 70k at a big 4

90k, but it was for a HCOL City

👉Just ask for it. Really, you would be surprised. Might be easier to switch to a new company and ask. I did that 3 years into my career.

And 🛑 wasting your time at a company that under-values you severely. Sometimes switching companies every 2 years or so will allow you to keep raising the bar for yourself.

Any advice for asking for almost a 30-35% raise. I recently got an Office Manager position and I wanted to renegotiate my pay. It's a brand new location with branches nationwide. So for a few months I had to do everything myself since I was the only one in the office at this location. I did extremely well and everyone's told me I've been doing a great job. The company has been telling me I'm going to change and get different responsibilities over time.
