Hello - hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm looking into risk assurance opportunities at Meta, especially Application Manager, Controls (min 5 YOE) and Manager, Compliance (min 12 YOE). I am a Senior Manager with 9 years of IT risks assurance experience. Does anyone have any thought on which position I should apply? If anyone currently at Meta could share your experience, that would also help. If anyone is open to providing referrals, I could provide my background. Facebook (Meta)

I was laid off for over a year until I found my next role. And that was with active searching. I think it depends on your goals. I also had this feeling of wanting to do something more and finding purpose, but after traveling to different countries and experiencing different cultures, I learned that a job can just be that. A job. It pays you money so you can do whatever you want. It also heavily subsidizes health insurance and other benefits, which I appreciate much more than before. The job doesn’t have to be a passion. You can find that outside of work. I don’t know what your circumstances are with money, but don’t feel like you can’t pursue passions and also do something that pays you.
Same same! Passion is animal rescue (though candidly I haven’t figured out a way to make it really work at scale — how to you change culture and funding around spay/neuter?). And you of course know, it’s not something you do for money either.
I’m currently working in a less taxing job (left BCG), but planning on joining my spouse’s business in the next year-ish so I can spend more time trying to make an impact in animal rescue. Do what speaks to you, you only have one life. Maybe that looks like a full time job in advocacy, maybe that looks like a less taxing corporate job so you have more time outside work, there are many paths.
If I can help on your job search or if you ever want to brainstorm, let me know 😊.
amazing! yes this is what i meant like a less taxing corporate job. My mom has a recruiting business and was thinking of joining that.
