I work for a relatively large investment manager in the Philadelphia area as an Equity Analyst for their internal strategies. I’m 27, passed CFA 1 and am taking level 2 in the fall. Been with the employer for 3 years and have received glowing performance reviews. I have been trying to negotiate for a salary increase but wanted to see what everyone thought would be fair total comp!

I am a high performer at my current firm but they started questioning working arrangements of folks based on the new members who are huge in-office folks, fast turnover within the team, etc. This wasn’t an issue when I first joined.

Due to obvious conditions my comp for the calendar year (salary+bonus) is back to 2017 levels although my overall sales are more than double and 1/3 less total comp than last year. It seems like comp opportunity is always decreasing during good times (I get it) but when it comes to adjusting during bad times, nothing was done. Is this normal for industry sales?

I'm assuming based on the average salary reported across these portals for principal that those figures apply to the RE group as well. Anyone have any direct knowledge or can speak to that group's comp?
