Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

P.S she belongs to a back end team serving the firm internally charging time on only one code.

Suggest getting it started now. Many have expressed interest and the process doesn't happen quickly because of existing pipeline of recruits and others wanting to rotate/shadow/transfer.
No need to leave EY when we have a thriving practice you can join. Right now a lot of covid 19 work is keeping people busy but there's plenty of other work still going. Though we are a national practice and you can get started on anything, your geo location will heavily influence the type of work because of the work driven by local office PPMD and market
C19 work = no bench time! :D
Honestly if you’re interested let your EM know and request a rotation; they’ll reach out to the Forensics EM. Might want to try it out before Busy Season.
Second this, we have quite a few audit people do rotations for a few weeks to a few months
I’m also in forensics and would agree to start internally networking now and stay with B4. We have several transfers from audit. I also agree with the above that transfers take time but from those I know personally that have transferred have been happy with the switch. Happy to discuss further if you’d like.
Easy to transfer if you’re interested at all in IFCS work.
I genuinely enjoy IFCS work - just a little burnt out on the bright-eyed newcomers with dreams of sexy investigations projects that end up being lower performers because it’s not what they wanted.
Lots of people make the move right after making senior. If you have a good relationship with your current audit partner you can express your interest now and get in position to make the switch after you make senior without risking them pulling a promotion from you in audit. If you don’t have a trusted relationship with the audit partner, get the senior title in audit and then lateral over to forensic.
I was at different big four but getting the senior promotion in audit was usually a better route as forensic may make you “prove yourself” for another year at associate before getting you to senior. If you get senior in audit, you can usually make the lateral transition.
If you like EY I would stay. If you’re going to get promoted early I would stay in the short term. In most cases, when you switch firms they try to bring you down a level, especially if you are promoted early and your total YOE are lower than their first year seniors. If you’re a year or two from promotion now, maybe explore moving now so you get to forensic faster and get a little pay bump now...just know it might add a year to promotion timeline.
Hi! I am in forensics currently. I would say stay with big 4 and get into forensics - then leave if you choose to. Network with colleagues currently in forensics and see when you’ll have an opening.
