I was once in a simular position and I didn't ask quickly enough. It most likely is the right time!
In my experience, it is better to ask for a raise when you get engaged with your new role. It's because the more your organisation depends on you, it is more likely that they'll listen to your demands. But you must set a deadline in your mind and never go beyond that.
Btw, where do you work brother? I am looking for an entry-level position. Thanks ...best of luck! :)
Every scenario is different but I tend to lean towards Ashraf’s advice. As an Owner, I tend to not like paying before the proof is there but as a general rule, once services are rendered, the “value” of this services drops. Same goes for people’s efforts if you work for someone with a short memory.
I also prefer to pay for position and bonus for performance.
They ask, you ask. If you don’t, they may not respect you and take it as an invitation to continue the pattern and do it again. Business owners are binary - if you’re willing to do more work for less, they will let you. Honestly, this should be a twofer - a raise now, and a raise later once you’ve proven yourself.
You’ve been there for six years - based on that alone you have value. I just wish it were part of their ask.
It is better to take the opportunity at hand and prove that you can handle the job and responsibilities before asking for a raise. Use the firm's resources and fine tune your role within the firm. They may reward you more that what you initially thought to ask for!
