I just learnt that I'm being promoted to the next level this coming July but I have already planned to exit as I have enrolled myself into a master's degree program outside India. The course begins on Sept 6th which means I have to exit before August 21st.

Should I inform my manager yet? Or wait till I get my visa processed? In that case which date would be feasible to resign?

YoE - 15, Hands-on EM, can code, do project and people management
Tech - AWS and .NET

Also an indicative range of CTC I should ask for will be helpful. Currently I'm underpaid at 20.1L as I worked in the same company for 12 years.

I went through all the stages of interviewing with a firm then they chose not to fill the position. They said internal priorities changed. I saw about 5 months later they posted a similar position. Guess who has another interview!

How tough is it to make the jump from SMB SAAS to Mid-market type roles? I’ve been annihilating my quota in my current role for the past 18 months, but on pretty small deal sizes. I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. I am asking this as I see SDE making much more salary than data scientist. Also experience and skill set required to become SDE is much less than Data scientist. For becoming SDE you need DSA and System design but Data scientist position require hell lot of skills. Also it is easier to find a job as SDE .

How important is a master's degree for your career? Can you have longevity and thrive in the tech world with just a bachelor's? Asking this because I've been preparing for CAT this year and I feel like my preparation is only good enough to get me around 90-95 %ile which is not enough to get a call from the top IIMs. I've been preparing alongside my job and its been a tough 3 months. Should I spend another year preparing and appear for CAT 2023 or should I give up and prepare for interviews?
