I got mine back in 2009, but I took about 30 hours of prep courses offered by my firm at the time and that was enough to pass.
Adding on to this--my firm had a 30 hour PMP prep course series, which is all I did. I didn't look at any test prep books, do any studying outside of the courses, or take any practice tests, but didn't have any problems passing the actual test with flying colors.
My exam was based on the 3rd edition of the PMBOK, so my experience may no longer be relevant now that the exam is based on the 6th edition (or still on the 5th?).
They just changed the test so keep in mind I took the previous version but I studied an hour a day 3-4 times a week on and off for a couple months and almost aced it. I found the actual test to be easier than the practice tests.
Maybe 20? Read through “how to pass the PMP on your first try” and then did a practice test or two. Took the test the Friday of the week I read the book and was golden
I have it hire me
