Hi, I am a freshman at the University of Minnesota studying civil engineering. I was just offered an internship for the summer of 2025. It is offering $20 per hour. Is that a good wage, or should I risk it and keep looking for internships? Thank you!

Which industry did you get an internship offer from? If it will excel your skills it will be valuable to you and your future. If you are happy with the hourly salary accept and keep progressing. If you do find the time you can find a shadowing opportunity in your free time or a mentor in a civil engineering firm local to you. It's worth connecting with someone in the field over a coffee, people like to help. A lot of people find their connections through LinkedIn.

I've heard a couple of things about how the partner pension amount @ PwC is determined, both similar in approach.

Both calculations I have heard of result in an annuity paid until death, at which point a surviving spouse (if any) receives the annuity.

The first calculation I have heard is that you get 80% of your highest earning year as a partner (e.g. If your best year was $1M, you'd get $800k as an annuity).

The second calculation I have heard is that they look at your three highest earning years as a partner, and take the second highest and you get 100% of that. (e.g if your three highest earning years were $1M, $800k, and $1.2M, you'd receive $1M as an annuity).

Is ANY of this true, or just all rumor? Any PwC partners that can chime in and explain the pension plan fact for fact? Perhaps with sample numbers?

I’ve recently started work at a very young tech startup. Coming from a big law background, this was a huge change of pace/environment. I’m having a lot of trouble getting used to how unstructured the startup is. It feels like hire ups give a set of instructions then talk as if they don’t remember, or then decided rules A, B, C and D applies without being clear this was the case. Is this just the general startup environment? If you experienced this before, how did you deal with It?
