12 months between applications, I know one associate I worked with recently that applied for 6 years in a row to get in on the 6th year.
Sorry M3 I meant to address M6 who applied 3 times! But thanks for sharing your path as well. Experienced subject expertise seems super cool
Don’t take this the wrong way - but have you thought about interviewing at Bain or BCG? Why the McKinsey focus? As someone at McKinsey…. These firms are all the same. If you aren’t getting traction with one, move on to the others?
Sometimes it just isn’t meant to be for whatever reason. You can keep trying, but sometimes things just have a weird way of working out. I didn’t make it past the phone screen at Bain. Keep your head up!
Hi! Don't give up! I got an offer in my 3rd try, no shame in saying it! :)
The answer to your question is, it depends on where you are (geography/office/country)
I was able to try 3 times in a row, but I think that it varies from a geography to another
Hi @Mck 2 any advice on how to make it in? This is my third time applying and I’d really like to make it
I applied last April - no interview and applied this April and got in so guessing max 1 year freeze
It’s also a lot of luck with which office you’re applying and who’s reviewing your resume
Do you know if the 1 year freeze applies to those who didn’t get an interview as well? Was that the reason you applied after one year? I definitely am aware of the 1 year freeze after failing the R1 or not making the final round cut, but I am not sure about the first situation where we didn’t get selected for an interview at all
Freeze depends on your feedback from the previous interview. I would suggest you reach out to the/a recruiter in target office and/or network with someone who can refer you and ask them to followup with the recruiter informally.
Honestly 2 years later is totally fine. I would try to get my resume recommended by someone in the office though :)
