I am new to consulting and I have never felt more insecure. I am the subject matter expert for my team and a liaison with the client but most of the technical stuff is going over my head. I think part of the issue is that I feel like I am going to have to defend every choice I make. I am not used to that and I just don't get some concepts. Also, there are not many women and I have worked in mainly female work environments until now.

Any tips to ask for a raise as people are fleeing my agency and my department VP (my boss) has resigned? I’ve been told I will now manage some employees that they were responsible for on top of my workload and take on more client work (this was not part of the job description when I joined a few months ago). As I look for a new job I need an interim plan here. My VP seems very disconnected (like they don’t care anymore about us). We found out at a company meeting they’re leaving.

In your opinion what does the perfect Account Director look like from a skillset & knowledge perspective... E.g 20% Relationship builder, 20% Marketing strategy & effectiveness knowledge, 20% technical knowledge, 20% Project Management skills, 20% Business & market knowledge... Obviously it varies depending on agency & client, but I’m interested to hear how you think the profession needs to evolve to stay relevant and add value.
