Bain & Company I received an offer to join Bain & Company for SF office but due to family reasons, I will have to stay in the South Bay. Given Bain’s local staffing model, it will be challenging for me to commute to SF and back. Is it possible to be transferred to the palo alto office/is that office fully functioning or does it mainly serve as a hub for partners and research?

As of yesterday, even though I applied in May, and that while they liked my application, they will not be considering me till early 2023.

Realistically, it’s the entry point at which you’re most likely to have success. Coming in at PL+ is HARD.
Joining as a C gives you some time to get used to the ways of working / build a network, and set yourself up for success before hitting PL.
That said, don’t know after 9 years of work, and reaching director level, if I’d be willing to go back to an individual contributor role (which is what C is).
If you’re interested in staying at BCG up through Partner / MDP, I’d say it’s worth it. Progress is fast. But if you don’t want to stay in consulting long-term and just want to use BCG as a stepping stone, I’d say skip the middle step and try to go directly wherever you want.
You should have more negotiating leverage elsewhere as a director at Accenture than a C at BCG
Do you manage a team of consultants, not just manage project but also drive content? Do you manage multiple stake holders: clients, partners?
If yes to both, then you might negociate coming in as PL.
It's not just YOE alone, but how well that experience fits with the PL job.
Source: I came in as C with 8 YoE from industry (managed a team but it was not consulting) and I am now a P after 4 years. Did not regret the move.

Sounds like the right level. Don’t think you would come in as PL. The interviews are all the same at Consultant level with tutorials, books, and coaches to prep you.
Run the case start to finish. Own day to day relationships with the CSuite (not middle management). B4/ACN cases are largely running project/program management work with client middle management and stacked
with more managers (Manager+Senior Manager+Partner) vs. one PL+Partner — larger cases can have more layers
but need to be comfortable if not.
