I believe entertainment is driven by consumerism. It's usually made just for the purpose of making profits and mimics a style of genre that is already popular. Art is usually more reflective. It's purpose to send a real message or to say something. That's how I make distinctions between the two
At this point they overlap so much it can be hard to tell. Sounds flowery, but I think if something can really make you feel something it's art, even if it's crafted or scripted or produced or anything else that would make it entertainment.
It is spectacular when the two things come together, not everything produced on TV is art. For example, Wess Anderson's films are each a work of art.
I prefer to spend hours looking at paintings than going to the movies than being lied to, I am an admirer of the works of Botero, in Colombia, most of his collection is pure art and I remember entering at 9 in the morning and leaving when the museum closed at 8 pm. And yes, spend the day without eating anything.
Art is what happens when something that is intended as entertainment transcends its medium. A music album, a TV show, and a movie all have the potential to be true art
Entertainment keeps you busy while it;s happening and you forget about it after, art resonates deeply and stays with you after the experience is over
if we're not being too uppity about it, art is simply any form of human creative expression. Your 4-year-old's nonsensical drawings are as much art as the works of van Gogh
Entertainment is often manufactured, focus group tested, and optimized for engagement. Art is organic, raw, and deeply human
It's hard to put into words at times, but I think it's one of those things where you just know it when you see it. For example, the latest pop song by some industry plant is pure entertainment, but music that has lasted the test of time, think Pink Floyd, are true works of art
I mean..Art is always going to service as the organic force that fuels entertainment. It's not a chicken or the egg situation, art at its foundation is the only reason entertainment exists in the first place.
Entertainment is a need, while art is one of the mediums for our entertainment. Simple as that.
There is no art anymore, just entertainment. At least in my opinion.
Not necessarily one in the same.
I believe that art and entertainment can be one and the same. For example, I think of movies like The Prestige and The Illusionist, which are both considered art house films, but they're also very entertaining. I also think of paintings like The Last Supper, which is beautiful and historic, but it's also a piece of art that people can enjoy.
In my opinion, art and entertainment are two very different things. Art can be more creative and expressive, while entertainment can be more fun and light-hearted.
I think entertainment is only driven by the need to appease the public. It gets influenced by so many things like people's opinions and ratings and all that jazz. Art transcends all of that. It has the potential to make you feel something even long after you first experience it. It influences you.
To be completely honest, entertainment is a bore without art. Art gives life to entertainment. You really can't separate them.
Interesting. Art for me is universal. It is raw and very diverse. Entertainment on the other hand needs other factors.
