We have interns ask for more time all the time. If it’s the right person we give it to them and tell them that we think Wipfli is the right spot for their future for xyz. Just be honest about your reason for wanting to explore the other opportunities. If someone says to me “I love your culture and the opportunity, but I’d always wonder about what the other organization would also be like if I don’t explore it now and make an apples to apples comparison to decide for my long term employer. Its not anything against Wipfli, it’s simply wanting to hear about all of the possibilities before making a decision that I hope will be a permanent career choice or turn into a permanent one.” It’s just about how it’s spun. With that said, Wipfli is awesome to work for and if you did accept now, you wouldn’t regret it. But I know it’s enticing to see what else is out there and you have to explore for yourself. Good luck!
Might as well ask but also just accepting the role and reverting if u get a different offer isn’t the end of the world.
I agree with that! Companies always do that and hire more people in your position in case someone else leaves.
If you accept the role and then mention to them that you have another offer is an acceptable situation. We need to stop feeling guilty for looking for ourselves. Companies do the same, and the only reason they will hire you is that you can make at least 2x your salary. It is not that a company is doing you a favor by hiring you; you are also exchanging money for your time and experience.
You can definitely ask for some time. I'm sure they will understand it. Just explain the reason. Don't worry too much :)
Here's a link of UF's policy on extending offer deadlines (to December for intern offers). Great to use to help convince your recruiter for a longer deciding period. Hope this helps!

UF site clearly states that these are just guidelines, not mandatory rules. Just meant to be used as a reference when asking for more time. Definitely don't state it as if their company must abide by this (which I figured was common sense when I posted this lol). I used this plenty of times while at UF to help me play the game more effectively and get all my offers lined up around the same time. Just word it where you would appreciate an extra two weeks and you respect their time & don't expect them to wait until December, etc. All my recruiters were more than happy to give me at least an extra two weeks. They understand that they have to fill the position, but you have to figure out the best decision for starting out the rest of your life (which is a big deal). Whatever you do, best of luck!
