Additional Posts in Designers
I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

What’s on your portfolio site should be enough.. if you feel like something is missing, add it in. If it’s a project that’s so new that you can’t show it on your portfolio, do have it keyed up in a hidden / password protected folder on your portfolio site or a an easy to follow keynote, pdf, etc.
I’m a product designer and I had a notion site to go through my work. PPT works too, I think it’s easier to show than your website. Plus shows that you’re organized and ready
Always prepare a deck because it forces you to think about the narrative of the conversation. You want to tailor your talk to what they are looking for. Going through an website is unreliable and it gives the impression that you didn’t prepare for the meeting.
I think I know who you are interviewing with. If the person is the founder : he’s a nice guy and he will know how to really value your work and experience. That said one big diff from in-house to agency is the lack of “different” work. Sometimes you work a year or more in one feature or section of the product. If that’s the case bring a lot to show your process. Also this is where any side project helps. They will show the interviewer a side your normal work doesn’t. Not a requirement though.
Hope it works !!! All the best
Is it at Work&Co?
No - but at a very similar type of agency based in Toronto with and office in NY
