Hi! I’m interviewing for a PO position at a mid-level company, I have about 4 years exp., located in NY. I just got a verbal offer for $150K, it’s about $50K more than what I’m making now, should I go for the offer or negotiate for more money? How much more? This is the biggest offer I’ve received! TIA!

ALWAYS negotiate, period. Any stocks, bonus, etc?

Congrats!! And I agree with the comment above, always negotiate

I think before negotiating, you should do a through research of what people in similar roles are being paid. If it matches, then take the job, if it doesn’t try to negotiate based on your research. However, don’t be pushy and greedy.

All of the above plus....

Ask them for the details of their health and wellness benefits and determine how much more or less out of pocket you would spend with their health, dental, vision insurance. When I say details I mean the documents they send their employees during open enrollment that shows the employee premiums, basics of the plans (i.e. deductible, out of pocket max), and any employer provided funding like to a HSA.

I would also ask to see their short term disability coverage, family leave policy, and 401k match details. Short term disability hopefully never has to be used but is A LOT, especially when having a baby. And speaking from experience, 60% of your pay is like nothing, even if you make 150.

All of these benefits listed may eat into your take home pay or put you worse/better off financially. You need the whole picture to determine if $150 is really 150 or if the company pays well but has much worse benefits that will cost you.

ALWAYS negotiate. They aren’t legally allowed to ask what you make.

Everything said above. You could always negotiate more than just pay - ask them to give you the whole package and see if you want added vacation days or bonus% or benefits. You could always ask for more money as well.

150K is great for a PO position in my opinion. I previously made 150 as a Senior PM on the east coast.

If you don’t feel the need to negotiate cash, ask about other things (bonus, vacation time, etc). The worst they can say is no, but you just might get what you’re asking for. I recently negotiated benefits for a new offer and they were able to meet my needs.

Definitely agree with the always negotiate - my recent package had a great salary bump + bonus and was already on the high end for my level so I ended up with a signing bonus on top.

Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

Hi all 🙂👋🏻 Apologies for such a late post. I have an offer of 18 CTC(1L joining bonus) from Larsen & Toubro Infotech & 12.5 fixed from IBM .
My joining in both are in around May last week. Tomorrow my IBM pre onboarding HR will connect with me. Should I ask for a counter offer tomorrow itself?
Or should I ask 2 weeks before joining?
Many told me that companies revise CTC when the joining date is near, else they show less interest. So should I go for it now itself?
Appreciate ur inputs🙂

When does the recruiter-candidate relationship really end? Everyone says ~6 months but is that 6 months of radio silence? Or is that 6 months from when you authorized to submit apps. Do you have to reapply after 6 months? Nothing is really clear. And what’s to stop someone from just terminating the relationship and reapplying by themselves. If it ever comes up, can’t you just explain that it didn’t work out with the recruiter?

Our SAs started today, so the firm is making us come in more often. My office set up is so awkward, screens are too small, and I'm constantly getting interrupted. Not to mention the extra time it took to get ready and commute. How do people do this?
