Hi team, I did my mba in 2019 Was in an IT Company in presales profile and now joining KPMG finance transformation roles. Designation - associate consultant. Joining in September end. Is there any chance I can make for promotion by next yr to consultant. The associate consultant designation will put me behind 2019 batch mates (at par with 2020 batch) . I already have 2.5 yrs post mba work ex. Do let me know. Want to understand if i am making the right offer or should I reject it.

I will give you a brutally honest response but don’t make a decision based on this please. It’s extremelyX3 times difficult to get a promotion in 1st year itself in any company, even if you are a star performer throughout the year. So that’s out of question. Now KPMG finance transformation is a really nice profile and it opens several doors for your future. Go with this mindset and think long term. Don’t compare yourself with others for now. Hope this helps.

The belief that you should be able to move from HCOL to LCOL and not have to take a pay cut is ultimate in socioeconomic and geographic privilege and outright entitlement. Nobody is going to give LCOL a raise to move to HCOL. The work you do is the same, you produce the same value, bill the same rate as peers in another geography. Take a pay cut or give LCOL a significant raise.

Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent.
