Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Does anybody has tips or advices on what I should expect as a new hire and how I can set myself up for success? Thanks!

You cannot schedule the exam until your application is completed. I’d suggest maybe paying the application fee a month before you plan to take the first exam. It may take some time for all of your professional recommendations to be submitted and for you to receive your diplomas or transcripts to support your education experience.
Also, when you are cleared to schedule the exams, schedule all four in advance as soon as you’re cleared. Availability may be a challenge, so if you plan to schedule each test after you pass one, you will may have trouble scheduling within a couple weeks and it will take longer to clear all the exams.
I tried to schedule my exams 1 week apart, but within 30 days, it was not possible. So my schedule was 1 week, 10 days and 10 days.
If you’re taking the cfe exam prep course, i recommend finishing the course before your first exam and then reviewing each section prior to each exam. That strategy worked for me. :)
If you’re not taking the course, simply reading the Fraud Examiner’s Manual will work just fine, but you won’t benefit from the practice test questions.
It’s a lot to study, but once you’ve consumed the information, it’s not difficult to retain it for the exam.
I do recommend studying the manual even if you have the prep course. The prep course will help you pass the exam, but it is not as in-depth as the manual. You will feel you understand the information much better if you read it from the manual.
Good luck!
Note: I have passed the first two exams on first attempt, and I’m waiting to take the final two exams. So my recommendations are fresh, but not coming from a CFE. I’m an exam candidate, just like you. :)
The 90 day challenge that Senior Consultant 1 referred to is through the ACFE organization. I think you must be an associate member to participate.
I would recommend to complete thr application when you are around 2 weeks away from wanting to give the exam.
Also yes you need 3 recs from current or ex colleagues
Thank you so much! This was really helpful, I wanna plan to take it all close to each other similar to you, so thanks!
