Are green card holders eligible for unemployment benefits? Do you need to pay any unemployment insurance while working in order to be eligible for those benefits when you’re laid off?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Hi, I currently work for an MNC and have received an offer from Hexaware in sep with joining date in dec last. What is the situation in SFDC domain in Hexaware currently with respect to projects and layoffs. My current company is best in terms of job security but due to the pay hike I have planned to shift as the current payscale is on the lowest in industry. I love my WFH in PwC India & base location of Kolkata. & the best thing is stability in PwC India, they never lay off!!

Is it common practice in Singapore for firms to have a probation period for new joiners (duration at their discretion), during which new joiners can be fired at a week’s notice period?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

Fear of being laid off (at 50) is so all enveloping that it’s affecting my health and sleep, and probably my job performance. I have a pot in my stomach all the time. Hey all. I just got hired as a Sales manager in a remote setting. As soon as I was done with training, the leadership team cut the entire BD side. They offered me 2 weeks of severance or an individual contributor role. Curious to know if anyone has connections to an open management/enablement role? Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞
