Dallas is the asshole of Texas.
As a comparison, Prosper/Frisco makes The Woodlands and look like diversity meccas. Lots of great parts of Dallas but Prosper/Frisco is like moving to Pearland - sounds scary for a single.
I live in The Woodlands. The only diversity is the people coming to shop/eat for the day, unfortunately.
Depends what you wanna do. Energy/O&G? Houston. Finance/Banking? Dallas. Some details might be nice.
Diversity is Houston. Better city is Dallas. Houston is cheaper. Similar traffic. Both easy access to travel. Suburbs around Dallas are more developed than Houston. Houston is more blue collar worker. Both have unlimited shopping/food/concerts/events.
What's the pay difference?
No pay difference really. Just office change
If you’re very evangelical there are very many like minded people in Proper.
I haven’t lived there, but a lot of people I know moved there when their kids got to be preK age to avoid Dallas schools.
I’ve lived in both and prefer Dallas, but not prosper/frisco. Too suburban
Prosper/Frisco is great if you love a consumer driven, white, middle to upper-middle class area. Less so if not. Our closest friends live in Frisco. That's their biggest complaint.
Houston is cheaper but less cosmopolitan- I think single or no kids you will enjoy Dallas more tbh
I preferred Houston as a single with five years of miserable dating in Dallas and six months of dating here to find a long term partner. Dallas was fun, but only because me and every other single lived in/around Uptown. If you’re single, I don’t think you want to live in the suburbs in either city.
Dallas. Crime in Houston is ridiculous
Same in Dallas though.
Been in Houston for 5 years and love it. I’ve been to Dallas about 15-20x for work and just don’t really care for it
From the outside looking in, Dallas is the superior city for whatever reason. I just really like Houston, where we stay in Cypress, and the overall real estate market. I own 5 rentals and I’m into new construction development which is easier here due to the no zoning laws. My job is 100 percent remote..I can’t complain.
