How big of a red flag is it that a company doesn’t have a marketing strategy/plan in place? I’ve been asking for this from my director but alway get some type of an excuse so I’m starting to believe there isn’t one. We are a company with over 200+ employees and 4+ locations

That would be really concerning to me. How big is the marketing team? I’ve been on a super small team and worked directly with the VP to make sure we had a plan in place for the year and for the quarter. Without a plan you’re pretty much flying blind each quarter. Though I suppose it depends on if you prefer structure or constant pivoting as plans will likely keep changing without a plan

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. Have you seen women wear ties and "masculine"-looking suits to work? Was it accepted by client and team? I've never worn a tie to work, but when I've worn clothing that had a more "masculine" fit either in grad school or some work environments, I've gotten comments and looks, or sometimes asked (or people gossiped) about my orientation. When I wear more "feminine"-looking clothing, I feel more more uncomfortable and awkward. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My boss in my creative agency threatened to fire me because I, a male, came into work with my nails painted. A guy who used to be on my team resigned a few weeks ago for another opportunity. I ran into his new boss socially and told them I was really impressed with how this guy was handling the drug bust and battling his heroine addiction during this career change. It shows real grit. That’s what wishing the best for others looks like.
