Degree helps but experience trumps degree. A degree alone isn’t enough to A get into leadership and then also B be a successful leader.
You need to develop you’re people skills, maybe additional certifications could help either Lean Six Sigma or there may be others out there that could help give you a leg up as a desirable candidate for leadership roles.
I DID get my bachelors but I’ve always been interested in leadership in some capacity. You don’t have to be in a leadership role to display leadership throughout your day to day. Do what you can in your current role to gain leadership experience, see if your current leadership/manager would be willing to help develop your skills by assigning you to lead projects and or take on leading certain initiatives. Ask how you can be more involved. This will feed the strength of your resume.
Keep in mind that leaders display leadership bc it’s who they are. They don’t wait to spark progress and change until they’re paid to do so. If we did we’d never have earned our title and be where we’re at.
ALWAYS be looking for ways you can add value, to your teams, to your manager and ultimately to the company as a whole. This is one of the main qualities in successful leaders and will be what sets you apart!

Well said! Developing good habits early pay off. Staying curious and pushing yourself to grow and develop pay big dividends.
Bowl Leader
I was working in retail operations in more of a supervisory role that wore a million hats. Wanted to do something more impactful and decided to pursue a Master of Healthcare Administration and found a great program. Turned out to be a fantastic move and after graduating with my MHA have been in the industry for 11 years in various leadership roles. The degree certainly helped as I didn’t have a deep knowledge of healthcare and the curriculum was pretty rigorous, but the best part was the network which has led to great opportunities and growth. I’ve had mentors from my program who really pushed me early to develop and I try to pay that back now to my staff and leaders.
