It helps them calculates revenue and expenses monthly to say the least. It helps them understand if we are selling work at loss, if team is efficient year over year, and how good management is managing their engagements.

The fixed fee is priced based on an estimate of hours and hourly rates. If the project is over budget, someone needs to understand if the estimate was wrong, if there was out of scope work that can be billed for or if it was something like training time or inefficiency that pushed it over.
It helps give an idea of out of scope items as well. While a client should be billed based upon the value, they ask us for time that is spent on it to support the invoice.

The rates and budgets matter to know if the work is even worth doing. $10K fixed fee. If a global staff can do it at $100/hr in 100 hours, a stateside staff at $250/hr better be able to do it in 40. Now you know why so much is being sent offshore or AI!
