1. Marry someone who makes the same amount as you
2. Don’t buy stupid things
3. Retire

Me too.

Don’t have kids (they’re awesome but you aren’t retiring by 45 with them), ignore status symbol BS, invest in multiple income producing streams.

Or…have kids, enjoy your life and retire later. But still be smart with your money. No one with a brain cares about your car, shoes, clothes, watch, house or any number of status symbols.

likesmart

I have kids already lol so I guess I’m out.

Generational wealth.

likefunny

I made it by 55. Does that count?

This is awesome, thank you for the detailed reply! I will start with a book 🤣

Work in house at late stage tech companies!

Marry someone with money or who will get a lot of it. No kids. Those are the easiest ways. Also possible to get there otherwise but it is a lot harder as the sole breadwinner and with kids.

like

Totally agree - hard to build wealth with kids or a partner who doesn’t make a good salary. Retirement at 45 not a problem with two big law salaries. You can have a very comfortable life on 3/4 of one big law salary and invest the rest.

Costs down + smart investing = retire early.

Dumb luck.

Save 3m, invest in multifamily homes, should net you around 150-200k a year in passive income. Or buy market tracking ETFs and don't be greedy.

(1) two incomes
(2) no kids
(3) profit!

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

Just heard FY23 partners at PwC are getting only 40 shares vs.60 last year. Looks like new partners are being shown the middle finger by Tim Ryan in favor of increasing stock price and getting more catalyst hires. Sucks!!

Hi newby here. I am international and only been in the US for a couple years so I wanted to ask a few questions about the chase saphire. What is the best way to apply for it to get the best deal? Any additional benefits beyond the 100k points? Is it ok to apply without an account in chase? How long does it takes to receive? What is the limit of the card? I am planning to buy something that is like 4,200 so I want to ask for the card but want to make sure I will be able to pay that much at once

D 🐠, what was your take home in first year as principal? I assume you all get roughly 350 units and have to finance your buy in. What does that leave for your monthly draw? And after your insurance?

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. If focused on the tri-state area (NY, NJ, Long Island mainly) that would be even better. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

Conventional wisdom on current firm counter-offering when mentioning you have a few offers? I have an offer at a large firm in Miami. Current large firm has no office there but mentioned they can likely let me be there in a remote basis. BCG and a few other law blog sites have advised against accepting current firm counter-offers, e.g., likely to leave, not loyal, off partner track, etc., but would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.
