they probably have 100 other skills and strengths that you do not know of and might be taking for granted. They are manager for a reason and earned that title. Respect it. Lift them up, teach them, and they'll do the same for you. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Agree! Need to readjust my attitude today!
Most consulting firms have slide design teams so you really just need the analysis/words and story board right .
Managers job is project management and client relations vs doing actual slides

Better use of my time to send it to our graphics team honestly
I second this! I had a head of design for the /graphic design/ department who literally called me to help him export a file 🤬 This is our job we needed a degree or background to get here how did you make it to head??
I came to consulting from industry as a Manager so I never had to learn the nuances of PowerPoint.

By actually solving problems that yield real business value using complex analysis and deep operational and marketplace knowledge...
Being able to make your slides look “nice” isn’t the sought-after skill you think it is in consulting. Most firms and major companies have design teams for a reason.
You know what are some of the skills to make manager and beyond? Being a team player, strategic, knowing when to ask for help, articulate…
But anyway… 🤷🏼♀️

Let me clarify I am not talking about graphics or design. Simple things like adding page numbers, aligning bullets points etc. We usually create content and then send the slides to the design team and they take care of the rest.
My favorite slide deck ever was one I saw presented at google around 1998. Not a single extraneous graphic. Out of the box fonts, black and white. I couldn’t bring myself to go that minimal except for internal presos to small groups
They also had what I recall was a one paragraph NDA that was electronically signed with simply typing your name in, before that was a thing. Maybe someone here remembers that. It was something like “don’t steal our stuff, we won’t steal yours”
But I digress. I was never good at making fancy power points. I used master slides but only when I had to
Making pretty PowerPoints is not a good use of my time. The media team does that for me. I do a general rough draft and then have the pros polish it. It is not that it’s beneath me or anything like that. Our company has very specific criteria for presenting that include specific font and size and a color pallet. I have good attention to detail but i am needed elsewhere most days and just don’t have the time to nit pick it to death as is required.
