Thought I'd share another leadership opportunity, this time for industry leaders in the Tech & Digital sector. Would love to connect with anyone who is a senior leader (MD / SVP) with deep experience in this sector alongside leadership experience in a TA / Growth or Client Relationship environment. Amazing opportunity to further establish and grow our presence with global leaders in Tech.

I relate to this so much. Personally, I think this stems from my fear of failure and tying my self-worth to my ability to get things right. I become paralyzed by every little detail and end up not being able to pick a side because deep down I'm petrified about "being wrong", even though intellectually I know it's OK to be wrong sometimes. Not sure how to overcome this

Never say never, that's a really long time. Be confident in yourself and your skill set and don't be afraid to ask questions . It is your managers responsiblity to make sure you are not tasked with something you may not know 100%.
You do not show weakness in asking questions for any give assignment, but rather an astute employee striving to learn, grow, and contribute to the goals of the company successfully!

If your firm has a rotation option for their national practice this is a great way to build your technical accounting knowledge.
A lot of getting better at technical accounting is just getting reps in a particular topic. You’ll come across tricky issues, see how others view them, and gain specific insights that may or may not be applicable to your next technical issue. As you do more research, you’ll learn more guidance, which helps with the next project. Honestly, I think being on a local audit team is a good way to gain some exposure to various topics, but I don’t think that’s generally a great place to develop expertise.
Take a box of legos and try to build the object without instructions. It sounds like you’re not really pushing the critical thinking skills and just solving the “low hanging fruit” type issues.
Read a book on critical thinking and see if it helps you with process and breaking down steps you might be skipping. You might find one area that drastically changes the way you approach a problem and that could be your springboard.
On your first question, my take would be setup a structured way of tackle any complex issue, and constantly improve on it. After completion, do a stand back review and challenge it as if you were outsider. Hope this helps!
