[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

That can be tricky to finesse. Saying something like urgent personal commitment could be read by someone as sounding like you're prone to unpredictable personal drama. Saying you took a planned break to deal with family matters sounds more reasonable. It can also be good to add something like "which have now been resolved, and I'm back to full commitment to my career."
I go with "I was the main caregiver for a family member" for this reason. It's an understandable reason to step away from work, and is something that is resolved (as terrible as that sounds) and unlikely to repeat.
You do not owe anyone your personal story. A simple, confident explanation like “I had to step away for personal reasons that are now resolved” is enough. What matters more is showing you are ready, focused, and fully available now
