How do you know if you want 2nd kid? My first one is turning 5 and I feel bad for her not having any sibling.

I wanted 10 until I had 1, then I wanted 1.

But having 2 is so much fun and honestly easier than 1. 2 is perfect.

feeling bad for your first for not having a sibling should not be the main reason to have another kid. “i want to go through the experience of raising another child; i have the mental, financial etc. resources available for raising another child and i truly enjoy being a mom/dad most of the time” would be a better reason.

like

Following. Idk if I want a second kid but my wife does.

like

Do whatever is best for you, as being a happier parent will make you a better parent. But where are some things I considered when having a second kid, as I felt the same way:
- when you have 1 kid you’re the primary entertainer, when you have 2 they can play together and you have more time to yourself.
- a bit morbid, but when my wife and I die I didn’t want my daughter to be alone. If she had a sibling she will hopefully always have a support network when I’m gone. Hopefully she has a partner or friends but can’t guarantee that.
- it teaches kids patience, and sharing, and other important lessons.
Hopefully that helps.

For me depends on age, when did you have your first kid?

34

I’m the second kid and prone to chaos. Go ahead and have that second kid. Your life will improve!

Um, I feel like my BF of almost 4yrs (1 living together) and I are on the brink of separating. I think COVID is putting it into perspective. We’ve gotten through the worst of the quarantine while supporting each other as best we could (very thankful for him). But his coping skills with stress (during covid) are lacking and as things progressed he’s just been taking it out on me more and more in the moment, then he feels awful for not treating me as well as I deserve (he treated me well before..)

Curiosity question - I’m a naturally very chatty senior and I’ve noticed that the staff 1s who are starting remotely and living at their parents’ home (which makes a ton of sense with the remote working) that I’ve been working with seem to want to chat about both semi related work stuff and non work stuff a fair amount. If you’re a staff living at home, do you enjoy having seniors who will chat with you about random things or would you rather just get your work done and log off?

Why do we always tell people “Be the best version of yourself before starting a relationship?”
I feel this is wrong…first, if you’re someone who constantly wants to be better, this doesn’t work. Also, what happens when you’re going through things and you’re not the best version? What happens is…the going gets tough and then one person leaves the other.

While billing 2k in a year with kids at home all day is nuts, you will not get better balance in a small pltff firm. Small firm partners are allergic to WFH, and can't afford to be flexible with when an associate gets to their work. The support of a larger firm is what has kept me alive this past year.
