How do you navigate a terrible leader? There's absolutely no empathy or human side to this person. They say one thing then change to another in less than a day. It's making enjoying my career almost impossible.

The constant changing is one of the hardest things to deal with! I have to keep paper trails for everything so it covers me. Also bringing up certain things again just to make sure this is how they want me to proceed. If nothing is looking up, then consider what, or where, to go next.

That's always hard to deal with. People who change their mind day to day don't know what they think, and they're just insecure in the role. The main thing is to protect yourself and document anything you can. Make sure important things are in writing. And if you're told to do something that doesn't make sense, and contradicts accepted of official policy, don't be afraid to question it.

Leave the company or switch departments…if your boss is toxic don’t expect to be allowed to transfer elsewhere in the company. You can change a lot about a job but u can’t change how people make you feel.

Look for a way out

Document EVERYTHING. I have been with my current employer for over 13 years. I have had a stellar performance review each and everyone of those years and have been promoted accordingly.

Some businesses are beginning to use what they are calling a segmentation model. Ladies and gentlemen allow me to let you know what that actually means.

Segmentation model is where in the company separates older workers from younger workers. Back in my day if I recall correctly, discrimination of any kind is against federal law

Cover your butt document everything

Do not give an inch

I can’t believe that we are relitigating the civil rights act of 1964 For heaven sakes this is insane

How do you best support your students who do not speak English? I have four ELL’s in my 6th grade ELA class and they don’t receive push-in or pull-out Bilingual support during my class. Do you pull them for small group to provide instruction separately or do you just try to use google translate to translate your lessons and the work? Any best practices? I’d love some help.

I'm currently making a career pivot and have gained a significant amount of experience during my MBA but still a bit in that pivot stage.. Has anyone worked for or with any corporate VCs, VCs with some sort of business development or other support, innovation labs, incubators, or similar places that you enjoyed? I'm about to graduate from an MBA program and am looking for jobs in this space. I'd love any recommendations for places to check out! Thanks!

What did you think was cool when you were young, but isn't cool now?

Thoughts on buying pre-construction homes in markets that are popping and flipping selling them when construction is complete?

My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I'm at a point where the salary I'm getting is disrespectfully low for all the work I do. Should I ask for a raise? And if so, how do I go about asking without sounding greedy.
