How does the vesting usually work at Faang companies with shares? Let’s say you get 250k in equity that vests over 4 yrs, are you entitled to 1/4 of that after a year?

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.
