Who is planning for next year's draft?
Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

$200 Uber credits should be easily justified
$200 airline fee credits -> United TravelBank for airfare
$100 saks credit -> Saks gift cards (in-store only)
$200 FHR/THC -> book in vegas or outside of US to get best value
$150 Corp Advantage Program/personal card annual credit if you have an amex corp card
Then there's also:
$240 entertainment credit
$155 Walmart+/Paramount+
$189 CLEAR
$100 GE/PreCheck
Then there's the non-credits stuff:
Lounge Access
Marriott/Hilton Gold
Transfer Partners (ANA works best for me)
Flight Delay Insurance (stayed at $500 Ritz 1 night for free due to snow storm)
And finally:
Sign up bonus for 150k pts
Retention offer every other year (technically 1+ year) for 30k-55k pts
I personally think it's a great and no-brainer investment (but yes, it does require some work)

Totally depends on your lifestyle, if you travel frequently for work, if you're allowed to book your work travel thru Amex Travel, and generally what you spend money on. I have it, as well as CSR, and I'm going to downgrade my Plat to Gold.
- I won't give a dime to Walmart.
- As a former club member, I won't give a dime to Equinox either.
- Uber is $15/month which doesn't even cover a full ride; I have free DashPass thru Chase and it's much better than Uber Eats, so I forget all the time that I have that credit.
- Saks credit is $50 twice a year, so a little cumbersome to use. I thought gift cards were off limits, but maybe not.
- I never seem to be able to use the lounges, but also I spend as little time in airports as possible.
- FHR credit and bennies is great, but note that in order to use that credit you have to book a FHR - which is more expensive than most hotels you'd probably consider. Overall I've probably spent way more in order to use this $200 credit.
- Resy is useless
- I have used the airline incidentals credit, but note that it's just for one airline you designate.
- Basically all the insurance coverage types (travel, purchase protection) terms are worse than CSR
- No bonus points for hotels unless you book thru the portal, unlike CSR that gives 3x booked direct and 10x if booked thru Chase portal (Amex is 5x if booked thru its portal)
- I already have a couple cards that give me GE/Pre every four years
That's basically what I did, and didn't want them to claw back the sub if I closed it at the year mark. So I'm giving it this extra year, but I've decided to close it by anniversary.
The Points Guy does a pretty good job explaining how if you take advantage of all of the credits, rewards, rebates, etc. then it can pay for itself of come close for the annual fee I mean
WSJ? Tell me more. I can’t find that benefit online, but I’m happy to be wrong if AMEX will pay for the WSJ.
Does it make sense to have the VentureX as well as the Amex Plat?

Venture X is essentially "free" to me and requires less work. Points diversification is never a bad idea.
Easy
The sign up bonus alone makes it worth it imo. If you travel a lot then that obviously helps. You also can transfer points to get even more bang for your buck. Then there are plenty of offers making it worth it for the first year.
Use the benefits - Walmart+ (now comes with Paramount Plus), Uber cash, shoprunner and “membership offers” to get cash back/points on certain purchases.
Depends on how much you travel and if you’re patient enough to really be using the perks and credits. Like saks fifth credit, monthly uber credits etc.
My 2cts as someone in NYC who doesn’t travel much: I use the card for “core expenses” - things I’d purchase anyway: EQX ($300), Uber Cash (200) and Sacks (100). I use the uber cash for a monthly $15 pick-up order at a place next to my apt, and the $50 sacks credit for things I’d buy anyway (eg just got $50 north face gloves for winter). So it’s effectively a $95 fee card with nice-to-have travel benefits. Considering my bonus offer was ~$2000 in points, it subsidizes itself for 20 years.
Signup bonus year - worth it
All other years - not worth it
