I relate to this a lot. My goals have definitely shifted from “move up as fast as possible” to wanting stability, decent pay, and enough time to actually enjoy life outside of work. Once your basic financial goals are being met, climbing for the sake of climbing starts to feel less urgent.

So true! Now that I make a comfortable salary, it’s not so much about climbing the ladder for me too

I thought I’d be a workaholic. Turns out I’d rather enjoy spending lots of time with my family. I live fairly frugally so I don’t feel a need to make a ton of money.

This is how I’m starting to feel too!
The pathway up the corporate ladder is littered with corpses. You work to live, not live to work. I have seen many colleagues pay the ultimate price of forgetting that with their life. And after seeing this a few times, I made the decision to not jeopardize my health or sanity for any job. It has become abundantly clear that companies do not care despite all of the performative theater the put on. You will be discarded the moment you stand between them and improvements to the bottom line. I come in, do the best job that I can, and I leave. I save aggressively and try to enjoy my life knowing that the corporate lifestyle comes with an expiration date.
Yes I relate to this as well. But more from a fox could not reach the grapes and so called them sour perspective.
