If that’s the career path you want, go to grad school. Get a 4.0 and only put your grad gpa on your resume. Pass a couple cpas. Should get you in the door for risk assurance/IT Audit. I had a 3.2 and did that - 13 year career at a big 4 with a pipeline to partner. You got this.
Graduated undergrad with 2.5, and got my masters with a 3.9. Got in with a smaller regional firm. Now making over 6 figures as a manager.
Building a good relationship through networking is the best way you will overcome your bad GPA. Also, the firms at the bottom of the top 10 get a lot of their intern offers rejected, so you can get in if you time your app right.
Just curious but how do you intend on passing the CPA at all, which is significantly more difficult than 300 level accounting courses?
It could definitely help to do your MBA/MSA and really commit yourself to achieving high grades! My undergrad GPA was low, but I did my MBA with a 4.0. They didn’t question me about my undergrad GPA at all and got an interview/offer right out of school a few years ago.
Also if you go this route, I recommend knocking the CPA exam out while you’re still in school.
Sell other attributes you have. But come up with a good response for when they ask about your gpa.
