It's been 18 years since I've looked for a job and how times have changed! I'm on so many job platforms, have applied to 100s of jobs over the past 7 months, had a hand full of interviews, which i felt went well, only to be ghosted. It's so draining mentally. Suggestions?
Follow up with an email and a phone call. Expect to be ghosted a LOT. Don’t give up, just keep applying. I went 11 months doing contract work before I finally received a job offer. The job lasted a little over 3 months and now I’m back to applying and doing contract work.

Without sugarcoating it- Market is bad and it won’t get better. So it will be a struggle , but people have found jobs . Not sure what rules you are referring to, but using your network built during 20 years is your biggest asset. But need to be extremely patient
We've been in a recession in Europe for 18 years since the financial bubble. Living standards have got worse each year, wages lower each year. That's a recession to me.
In the US it's a similar story, but it's hidden as the middle class up until 4-5 years ago have managed to do okay whilst everyone else suffered. But the middle class is quickly hollowed out, worse cost of living across the board, so it's the same story as Europe. The USA eradicates unemployment through redefining the definition of unemployed. It doesn't even count how many people have no basic healthcare, which is on the rise. All indicators of a recession in the real economy.
Unless you believe the stock market is the economy - it's a measure of rich people's wealth in assets - the economy is as bad as it has been in nearly 20 years and is only getting worse still. Wealth is concentrated. Jobs face downward pressure. Where there is no accountability, there is corruption - this is as true as physics. That is the story of our governments today.

30 applications. 3 interviews. 0 offers. All industry roles. Discouraging to say the least.
Are you a member of a professional org? If so get involved. Network. Maybe do a passion project to keep your skills relevant. Connect with former colleagues and peers. Use a recruiter. Try to differentiate yourself.
