In the field 6 years. Started at 41k and now working in higher Ed at 110k
In Canada, I started at 46k 12 years ago. After I got my masters and clinical designation, my pay jumped to ~ 88k. 12 years in as an LCSW I make 117k CAD working full time public and private on the side (4 clients/ week).
Ah yeah I see. You’d have to register in Ontario or another province to qualify for the special remote therapy licence through Ontario. If you don’t reside in Canada, you’ll have to ask the Ontario board of social workers if they’ll permit you to practice on the remote licence from the US. Since I’m registered in Alberta I qualify, but I’m not sure if I will once I give up my Alberta reg for California. I’d just reach out to them and express an interest
I started out as a crisis Case Manager making $36,000 in Texas in 2018, I went back to school to get my MSW and now I work as an LMSW Psychotherapist for a mental health PHP/IOP in the DC area for $85,000. I think if I went back to Texas I would earn around $70,000.
Started around 50,000 (inpt psych), worked seven years and took a break raising kids. Went back in 2013 at 72,000 (oncology) now make a bit over 88,000.
Started at 70k in 2019, was laid-off during the pandemic in 2020 and started a new role at 70k in 2021.

It’s looking very promising. There is a shortage of therapist. I predict with the unrealistic demands of the current positions that burnout will be high and positions will be hard to fill, which should increase wages.

$20,000 in the 80’s and increased in increments of $5,000 annually.
Biggest jump was within the past 5 years when I went from $56,000 to currently $74,000 annually.
