“Stuck”? I’m thrilled to have been hired! 🥳
Does it still count as being stuck if I'm here by choice? I was going to have to find something to do over the summer regardless so I just went with the path of least resistance. I don't really mind, to be honest.
Stuck thanks to Bidenomics - Prices are out of control in CA -- Subway sandwich $14.32
Wow!!! We really need to educate ourselves regarding the concept of "demand-pull inflation" [i.e., too much money (e.g., stimulus monies) chasing too few goods]. We also need to realize the "war on fossil fuels" also has a major inflation impact across ALL goods and services. Proof: remember the "oil embargo of the 70's" and it's impact on inflation? OK, I just dated myself :-)
$35 an hour for a half day, M-Th, watching kids do online stuff and catching up on things that didn’t get done during the year. I have had worse gigs. Plus the principal values my work and effort. Besides, I have a seasonal camper nearby and the pool doesn’t open until noon. What else would I do all morning?
sleep
You are not stuck, you are getting paid for those weeks.
I am, but I don’t mind it. I really wish they’d let us actually teach instead of just facilitating Edmentum courses. Eyes of the Dragon and No Country for Old Men were the kids’ favorite reads during summer school! I actually felt like they were improving their skills then.
There is so much about summer school I like, as a teacher. 1st extra pay. 2. less hours and students. 3. I get to teach subjects I normally wouldn't. I am endorsed for all core subjects, math, science, English, and social studies. I have been hired, during the regular school year to teach Social Studies and math. Summer school allows me to teach English and science...its the variety that makes the spice of life.
It’s bad enough to constantly be judged as teachers, can we stop being petty with our colleagues?
Instead of summer school, teachers should get a waiting tables job. It’s so much fun and with our skill set, we’d kill the tips!!
Stuck? Is it not a choice?
I am glad to be teaching summer school. Great and helpful money to me. $40 an hour. I love teaching a smaller group of children. It's fun too.
My husband and I spend the summer traveling, so no, not teaching summer school.
I wish! But I’ll be a camp counselor ☀️
Nope. RETIREMENT 😁
I stuck/sort of but I don’t mind, but what do you all get paid?

Not stuck. Volunteered. Extra pay is nice!
