We get paid to be right all the time, to have the answers when other don't. I love being right. It drives me. But it's driving my relationships into the ground. Anyone have any good advice?

First, shut up. Listen. Dont speak after listening. Second, be willing to be wrong. Ive been in similar situation. My wife would bring me her problems and I would start solving them, when all she wanted was for me to be there and listen. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. Ask, dont tell. If you think they dont have all the facts, ask about why they feel or think that way without pointing out you think their wrong. You become involved in their life by asking and being curious about them, not by telling them.

Understand that there are two parts of the brain: emotional and logical. Youre choosing to only think and use logical. Most people are not like that and often heavily skewed to using emotional. When you do that to others, in an attempt to present facts and challenge their findings, youre in fact hurting their emotional side causing pain. They associate you with that pain. You probably are not like that & when someone challenges you, you dont feel bad, you only feel logically challenged. But most people arent like that. And to succeed, you must tap into the emotional side

I have the same problem, don't think it's work related so much as personality. I just like to have fact driven discussions and I do correct people if they're wrong. I also appreciate being corrected when I'm wrong. No one is perfect. It's not the what, but the how. How are you correcting people? What about when others correct you?

We don't get paid to be right all the time. Baseball players who get a hit .300 are celebrated. We get paid to provide the voice of reason for a client who's lost it. Set the expectation up front. I will not be right all of the time. I will be available and give you a reason not to just bury your money in the back yard. Managing expectations a crucial part of any relationship and is seldom covered. Expectations
Must be mentally created, verbalized, realistic, agreed upon, if any of those is missing conflict will ensue.

When you have the choice between being right and being happy. Choose Happy... Unless of course the other person is your arch-rival then right and happy are the same thing!

Stop giving yourself so much credit, you probably aren’t right that often

Are you right and the client is wrong,?? It might come across that way. Also admit that you don't know everything, thinking your smarter than you you are is dangerous

In relationships - personal and business, if you want people to like you, you need to help them like you. Don't make them feel they are wrong all the time. Help them win, make them feel good and positive about themselves and you'll always come out ahead. It's not about you, it's about them, don't be narcissistic.

I felt like a walking zombie during thanksgiving, barely eating and barely talking. My family is small and I told them ahead of time my relationship ended. CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?
