Don’t do this
Exactly. It is NOT appropriate to get a gift for your boss, sorry.
Not one penny. I will wish the team good tidings in a quick message.
Nothing.
The price of a card and stamp.
In this economy? 🌚
🤣😂 I wouldn’t donate a can of non-perishable food to that fund.
Zero
$0.00
Nothing. We as an office did One gift under $10 And then you draw a number to see which gift is yours.
The members of my team all pitch in around $20 to get our manager a gift card.
There is a whole lot of "dayummm" in these comments! lol. Listen, OP...for me, it depends on the situation. The boss, the industry, gifting rules, etc.
I have chosen to gift in the past, but I have also opted to refrain. I dealt with a highly toxic boss at my last employer for (too) many years. Even then, if I did something small at the office (i.e.: usually treats that would go far), that boss happened to be included as I didn't go out of my way to exclude anyone. However, I happen to think very highly of my current Supervisor as a person beyond our roles. They have been one of the best mentors of my career, so as a result, I have chosen to do a gift for them over the past few years. I usually choose something from one of my favorite shops and/or local town as it makes me feel good to support that business at the same time. Even if I get canned tomorrow, I do what I do because it makes me feel good to spread a little cheer in that manner to someone who helped make a difference for me as an individual. Follow your heart, and don't worry about how much or how little you spend, or even if you choose to do nothing at all. Simply do what makes you feel good.
I have never bought my boss a gift in my entire career, for Christmas of Birthdays. I find it strange to even think about getting them one.
