How much do you spend on vacations per year? What % of your income?

I'm planning a few weeks in the EU and feel anxious/guilty of how much it's costing even though I can afford it..

Our family of 3 spent 17k last year on 3 trips: Korea/Japan, France, and Jamaica. That was in combination with point redemption so we saved a bit there. Every year, we spend about that amount.

About 2 big trips. Each $3000-4000

It depends. We just spent way more than we were comfortable with to take my mom to Europe for her 70th birthday (she’d never left the US prior). It was the trip of a lifetime for her, and thus for us. Sometimes the experience is worth the extra splurge (within reason, if you’re not going into massive debt etc). Would I spent that much on a routine vacation? Definitely not. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Life is short.

How concerned are you about inflation? We have 70% savings rate and 50% of our expenses are housing / utilities of which the largest part is rent which is a fixed contract (no CPI escalation, no automatic increases, paying same rent for 4 years). No car as we are living in a large city. So if I look at the components of CPI and what’s rising I am feeling pretty „good“ about it. The one thing I am „worried“ is asset inflation but obviously that benefits me directly. What am I missing?
