How much does everyone's employer contribute to your 401k? Mine will match our contribution up to 3%, is this pretty decent?

I’d say that’s pretty decent. Accenture matches up to 6% of our comp.

That’s pretty low to me. Mine automatically give 5% and match an additional 4%, so total 9% from my employer.

Which company do you work for?

Mine puts in 6.5% regardless of my contribution.

7% guaranteed and then 7% match so 14% total. It’s not the company in my name, I moved to a new company this year. They also put the 14% on your year end bonus as well which something not every firm does.

Which company?

I don’t think that’s too bad. I’ve had employers didn’t contribute anything. My last employer contributed 2%. My current player does contribute 4% so it’s better so I would say 3% pretty average.

Seems a little low to me as well. Ours matches up to 6%.

Mine matches 125% of my up to 6% personal contribution

I think that’s fair for a best company to work for. We do a 3% match and a 5% safe harbor contribution. Our employers 5% safe harbor contribution just increased from 3% so we’re doing great!

I think that is pretty standard thinking back on all the places I have worked. My current company contributes 5% but before that it was always 3% at every company I had been at.

Mine contributes a big fat zero.

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." After obviously ignoring this for years, we are finally trying to do it before "it's too late" for both children.

Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.
