I should be more sensitive but I think it's fucked up to start a new job and tell your boss after a week that you will be out on maternity leave in 4 months.

There's a clinic nearby doing walk-in coronavirus tests. Been thinking about getting one for peace of mind (paying out of pocket, outside of health insurance, to avoid the hassle). I think it's an antibody test. If I test positive, will a crew of hazman suits take me away immediately? Has anyone done one?

Interested to hear from Associates: if you are able to have hybrid office/WFH schedule but you are still not showing up at the office, what would convince you to do so? Looking for incentives/rewards/prizes - things that might tempt you. (This is not a philosophical debate; I understand and empathize with pandemic realities and I am a full supporter of WFH on a full-time basis, but incentive policies still need to be set so please respond appropriately with reasonable suggestions.) Thank you!

I'm now 6mo into parenting a wonderful and much loved and wanted baby girl. And even with all of the privilege of paid leave, excellent healthcare coverage, and an incredibly supportive and caring partner, this has been hard af. It's one thing to feeling make the decision to risk your life and endure all of the hardship, trauma and permanent body changes that this entails for a wanted child. But the idea of forcing someone through pregnancy and birth, with no support, is so incredibly horrific

Is anyone here investing in NPS over and above 80C? If yes, is it worth it given that we can only redeem 60% as lumpsum and rest that we get as pension would be negligible due to inflation? Also, is it better to invest in multiple funds or just one? Lumpsum or SIP? P.S. - my tax bracket is 30% so finding ways to save tax.

Can you be a socialist/antifascist and a work in biglaw? I am a biglaw associate, currently working in a practice area where I feel my work benefits society as a whole and not mainly our clients at the expense of others. I am also a socialist and care deeply about issues like systemic racism, climate change and the huge differences in income and wealth in this country. People with an income like me and partners in particular should be taxed way more. Any other biglaw folks who feel the same?

Last year, My girlfriend was making 80k while I was making 200k so I took her out to dinners and took care of the groceries etc. Basically made sure it’s an equitable relationship. She got a new job this year and is now making 210k (more than me) but still expects me to pay for all the dinners and groceries. I’ve already talked to her about this but just resulted in argument. Is there any coming back from this situation to make this equitable relationship or is break up the only option here?
