Should be less than 5k to cover short term liabilities. Everything else should be invested. I've got 4K in checking, 10k in savings acc earning a meager 1.2% for emergencies, and 75k across my IRA, 401k, crypto and taxable brokerage.
Haha. My Consumers Credit Union. There are a few things you have to do every month to get the 4.59% like 12 transactions with your debit card. So I just make 12 back to back small payments to my car insurance once a month. Takes 3 min. And lastly you have to spend $1k per month using their credit card. But even if you don't get a credit card, you'll still get minimum 3.09% return every month. Free to sign up and you don't need a referral or govt ID.
Where ^^.
<$200.00 😭😭
I'm guessing you're being sarcastic - in my 30s and definitely not 500k liquid lol. I'd imagine anybody in that range is putting money into a house or something less liquid
Yeah that's too high. I have $5k. $15k savings. $80k invested. Retirement accounts are well funded too 👍
But also they reimburse all ATM fees from any and all ATMs. Domestic and abroad.
Curious for the (honest) folks in their 30's with six-figure liquidity - how many of you 1) Did NOT have any financial help at all from your parents, including inheritance, with college and living expenses in your 20's and 2) Have lived in an expensive coastal city like NYC, SF, or LA for your entire professional career? I just don't see how >$200K liquid money in this career at 30ish is possible unless you have a wealthy family which helped you out, won the lottery, live in Des Moines, or live like a monk in an expensive city.
Tell us where you Bank!
I always fear layoffs, so I have $40k in liquid accounts. Other than that it's invested in retirement.
I would say stocks are pretty liquid... only assets that arent are real estate and retirement investments
As of right now ~$7K. Tend to fluctuate between $4 - $10K based on cash flow needs. $35K invested (including HSA and 401k) and healthy credit lines in case some major shit blows up.
2 inches more than whatever is in your checking account
$20,084.86
Good point P1. But my checking account is 4.59%. Only reason I keep so much.
Someone already asked the same question this week
What is a checking account?
0.02 at least I'm not negative
^ LOL. Go ahead Partner 1, tell us
I was born in the 60's and I have multiple checking accounts to keep things straight and separate. Around $50k average daily balance.
If you are traveling a lot best to have a cushion in there so you don't think too much about missing things.
Do y'all not have student loans or debt?!
Checking - 2k. Investments - 18k. 22
