Should be less than 5k to cover short term liabilities. Everything else should be invested. I've got 4K in checking, 10k in savings acc earning a meager 1.2% for emergencies, and 75k across my IRA, 401k, crypto and taxable brokerage.
Haha. My Consumers Credit Union. There are a few things you have to do every month to get the 4.59% like 12 transactions with your debit card. So I just make 12 back to back small payments to my car insurance once a month. Takes 3 min. And lastly you have to spend $1k per month using their credit card. But even if you don't get a credit card, you'll still get minimum 3.09% return every month. Free to sign up and you don't need a referral or govt ID.
^do you plan on buying real estate soon? I'm thinking about starting to invest into my first real estate property.

Probably about $3k in checking, and $8k in savings and $8k in 401k. Probably could be saving more but I want to travel while me and my husband are young (24). Is this so wrong?

Depends on how high your short term liabilities are each month. Experts say 6mo of expenses liquid is a good move

Foreclosures are dangerous, lots of traps. Basically built an excel model and document what each "flipping" activity cost me to inform the business case
My checking is a temporary account to hold money before it goes to pay bills. Currently $4k checking, $24k savings, just under $300k between IRA, 401K, Roth, and brokerage accounts. $150k in equity on my house ($70k left to pay off within the next 5 years, hopefully). I'm in my mid 30s.
