This is exactly what is going to happen to the majority of positions that people fled to thinking they would be full time remote only to find that perk is no longer being upheld. The majority of the work force need to come to terms that most industries will be back in the office part of full time. Wfh will be a carrot they dangle only to eliminate it. Taking a pay cut to stay at home is crazy. You will be forgotten and never advance over someone in the office. I say go back to your local firm, go into their office and get them to match.

LM1, true. They just need to be truthful. Noone is buying productivity and collaboration as reason to return when that's been happening just fine.
Calculate gas and car maintenance, food for lunch, and any other additional costs that working in the office would bring and see how much it is per week. Times that by 52 weeks a year and subtract it from how much you make at the current place. You'll have your answer as to home much you can go down and have peace of mind.
You’ve said that they can’t match your pay/bonus? Have they told you what they can do or are they asking you to bid against yourself? They need to tell you what they CAN do so you can decide if you are willing to accept it. Only you know what kind of cut your finances can tolerate / you’re willing to bear. We can’t tell you what WFH is worth to you. Me? I would not voluntarily take a paycut at this stage of my career.
I'd say none and find. A company that is wfh
Yea I suppose it depends on your role and how long you have to search.
5%
Probably at least 10 to 15%? I feel like I get that amount back in saving gas from not commuting as well as my sanity
Restoration project manager 50k salary 50-100k bonus per year 5 years experience
I feel most jobs will be hybrid moving forward I say deal with it. In my opinion 100 percent work at home in this industry is not beneficial to your team or your customers. I know one underwriter that works from home that does a great job other than that one person I feel quality of work is subprime. I know this won't be a popular opinion but this is how I feel.
I would take a 10-20% (or more) pay cut to work remotely so that I could leave my big city and live somewhere less expensive while still earning significantly more than I would if I worked in person there.
This has come up a couple times with me. I work for a company that doesn't do remote at all but for a few people. And honestly with how close I live to the office, I'd still take a paycut to not leave the house some days.
Moving is gamble - as most said, even companies that hired wfh can then switch it up to hybrid and full in office. Happened to my sister in law.
I recently moved companies to stay WFH as my commute was almost 2.5 hours and with a small child it was just not worth it. I now make about 5k less and don't get bonuses but I feel like I have more work life balance.
