Personally I would target a minimum of 30% when switching companies. 25% isn’t bad but you can do a bit better in the current environment I think.

likefunny

Especially if it’s in same service line definitely target 30% or more bump.

You’re taking a risk losing out on your current network & should get compensated heavily for that.

likehelpfulsmart

This is key. Everyone forgets that risk with switching.

I told the last firm that called me I wouldn’t consider moving laterally without a 20% bump, starting at a salary over $200k. They went with someone cheaper. Whatever.

Better question: why leave one firm for another?

K2, Idk about the 80s but I see the trend on BLS in recent history is pretty consistent across the board with a decline in tenure.

Not for less than 35%. You will be at the top

If you had a offer with PwC and Deloitte, which would you accept and why? What if one firm offered 10% more base salary than the other?

Personally I’m already at PwC and know how things work, I would choose PwC over Deloitte… but if Deloitte offers 10% more, I’d go with the one that gives more.. big 4 are big 4, both names are good on the resume… why not take the one with more money?

I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️

Does anyone else here have an unusual work schedule? Curious what adjustments you’ve made to make it work.
