Interested as well. I heard FAAS has better hours but I think FDD would be much more interesting
FAAS also has a lot more diversity. You work on carve-outs, pro formas, etc., so isn't all technical accounting. I find a lot of FAAS to be interesting.
I worry about FDD in that you are basically doing the same thing for every project. I have poor insight to that though. I have also heard its basically a glorified hyper audit, which would not appeal to me.
Agree with PwC OP. I am in AAS and FDD was not my cup of tea.
OP, I guess it depends how your FDD group is structured. I’ve worked on various deals in different industries from lumber and steel manufacturers to IT service providers to dealerships. You learn the ins and outs of FDD for each industry but I average a deal a month and every company is a little different. I don’t agree that it’s a glorified hyper audit. Everything we do is providing value for our client rather than just checking a box. That’s just my two cents
I’ll disagree the other way. I was in a smaller market with a director with a particular specialty and it was all GAAP Change. Never even believed I would see anything but GAAP change on one topic for years. Deals was much more diverse. City. Practice. Clients. Partners. Variables
